Radical camera techniques for wedding photography

We have been experimenting recently with some radical and new camera techniques. These shots need two photographers to take them. The camera is held by one shooter, the subject is framed and focused and held relatively still. The second shooter is holding two separate radio triggers – one that opens the shutter with an exposure of about 3 seconds and another that triggers a handheld strobe. The image is actually a double exposure – the blurry super colorful background and then the flashed subjects in the foreground. It takes quite a dance for this to work, but it’s something we have been working on. The images have a unique energy to them.
